Thermoplastic gutta-percha (a rubber like inert material that takes the place of the nerve), facilitates the filling process of root canals--promoting healing and preventing infection, may now be replaced with newer materials like Resilon. Resilon is believed to increase the resistance to root fracture, decrease any leakage, and to create an instant seal--in short, a filling material that bonds to the root and strengthens it too.
