Wineries near TucsonCallaghan Vineyards
Just an hour south of Tucson, Callaghan Vineyards is a family owned and operated winery located in the rolling oak-dotted hills of southeastern Arizona. Founded in 1990, Callaghan Vineyards has earned its superb reputation for consistently producing outstanding, rich, complex red and white wines from its 25 acre vineyard. Mediterranean and Spanish varietals - Tempranillo, Mourvedre, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah and Grenache - are the basic building blocks for their red blends, while Viognier and Riesling are blended for their estate white wine.

From their first vintage in 1991, Callaghan Vineyards have received accolades from the most respected wine writers and publications in the world –Robert Parker, Decanter, Karen MacNeil, Oz Clarke, Tom Stevenson, The Wall Street Journal, and Wine Spectator. They have also been honored by having their wine served at the White House three times: Callaghan's Claire's 2004, a Mourvedre, Syrah and Petite Sirah, was served during President George W. Bush's dinner for retiring U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, an Arizona native. Callaghan's 1998 Buena Suerte Cuvee was served in 2000 at President Bill Clinton's last State Dinner for the Prime Minister of India. The 1993 Buena Suerte Cuvee, a Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, was served in July 1996 at a White House dinner for the Democratic National Committee. In 2006, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano designated Callaghan Vineyards as one of Arizona’s Treasures.

Located in Elgin, just an hour south of Tucson, Callaghan Vineyards is open to the public for tastings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 11-3pm. During the fall and winter months, their wines are also available for purchase online.
