Cinnamon Pull Apart Buns by Gold Mountain Manor Bed and Breakfast

1 ½ c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. cold butter
½ c. buttermilk or milk
pinch of salt
1/3 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 ½ tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg
Softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon for inside the rolls.

Glaze:  1 c. softened butter, 1 c. confectioners sugar and ½ tsp. vanilla

Preheat over to 400°. Grease two 8" cake pans, put 1 Tbsp butter and 2 Tbsp brown sugar in the bottom; put in oven while preheating. Take out when butter is melted, swirl to mix in sugar, coating bottom of pan (creates a caramel top for buns).

Combine dry ingredients and cut in butter until it resembles coarse lumps. Mix wet ingredients together with a fork or whisk and add to dry ingredients, combining until it is a smooth dough. Do not over mix. Dump on well floured board and roll out into an 11 x 16" rectangle. Spread with softened butter, dust with brown sugar and cinnamon (add cocoa if desired). Roll into cylinder, on the long side. Cut into 20 equal pieces and put 10 slices into each 8 " cake pan, leaving room between each for expansion. Bake approximately 15 minutes. until brown and golden on top.

While buns bake, make glaze. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and whisk until smooth. When buns are done, unmold onto cake plates while still hot and spread frosting. Then make yourself a cup of earl grey tea, pull apart a bun and relax.
