Introducing...Orion the
cat!
Hi,
I am Orion the cat, and I would like to play a game with
you. First, you must read my story below, and pay close
attention to the words highlighted in yellow--these are
clues! Once you have read the story, click on the Game
Button at the end. If you have read the story, you will
be able to play the game! Good luck and let's get
started!
There is a
constellation
named after me, or maybe I was named after it? Ask your
parents to show you what it looks like and go outside on
a clear evening and look up. A constellation is a
group of stars that look like a picture. The stars are really
amazing.
I
want to tell you about myself. I am an orange cat with
white markings. I don’t remember much from before I met
my owner. When I found my new owner I was a little
afraid. It turned out to be the best thing that ever
could happen to me. My new owner is named Marcella she
took me to a warm home with plenty of food.
My
owner first took me to a
vegetarian, no I
mean a veterinarian.
He looked me over to make sure I was healthy and then
gave me a shot. The shot was quick and Marcella held me
to let me know that I would be okay.
My
owner shops for my food and reads the label to make sure
it is good for me. She looks for things like
Protein,
vitamins, and
minerals.
I
have lots of toys, and a scratching tree made of wood
and carpet. I love to climb the scratching tree and
hide inside.
For
the first few days I was kept
separated from
the other pets in the house. That way we could all
learn to accept each other slowly. Fighting is not
allowed in the house.
You
see, Marcella and I made a
contract
together... She promised to take good care of me and be
very responsible. I promised to stay close by and to
love her. I think that I have the easy part. I would
never leave, even if she made a mistake. She has a big
list of
responsibilities and she is very careful to make
sure she does each one of them.
-
Put out fresh food and clean water every day.
(She even washes my dishes everyday)
-
Get plenty of fresh air and watch the
temperature.
(I like sitting by an open window. The
screen keeps me in and the window has a lock so
that it can not open any further than two
inches. The temperature is not too cold and not
too hot. She also makes sure there are no
chemical
fumes in the house.)
-
Clean the litter box.
(How
embarrassing, but if it is not clean I will not use it.)
-
Get plenty of exercise.
(I play with my toys and chase the other
cats in the house. I can also go through a cat
door into a kennel to play outside! It even has
a roof to keep us dry and cool)
-
Keep healthy.
(I get my yearly check ups and shots to
protect me from
disease. I really don’t like to do this
but I know it is in our contract.)
-
Be safe.
(I am never allowed near the street.
Marcella
inspects the house and my play area for
broken glass,
poisons, and she got rid of the mouse
traps)
I think that I am the
luckiest cat in the world. I jump up and sit in
Marcella’s lap and purr. I look up at her to say thank
you for loving me in all the right ways.
