Overview
  The old west comes alive in the Cowboy Country region of Nevada. The dramatic Ruby Mountains, the Ruby Marshes, Jarbidge Wilderness and Lamoille Canyon are known for their scenic landscapes and visitors can hike, bike, ski, snowboard, snowmobile, fish, or attend a rodeo, Basque Festival or the famous National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. Lovelock, following an ancient Chinese custom, has become famous for it's chain that encircles the city's plaza, where couples can engrave their love messages on a lock and lock it to the chain.
  Attractions include a ninety foot cowboy named Wendover Will that welcomes gamers, the Peppermill Concert Hall, Battle Mountain, Rye Patch Reservoir, old mining town of Midas, Angel Lake, golf courses, Mill Creek Recreation Area, Pine Forest Recreation Area, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Jarbidge Recreation Area, South Fork Owyhee River, South Fork State Recreation Area, Wildhorse State Recreation Area, Wilson Reservoir Recreation Area, Zunnino/Jiggs Reservoir, Salmon Falls Creek, Lovelock Cave Back Country Byway, California Trail Back Country Byway, Goshute Mountain Watchable Wildlife Area, Bloody Shins Trail, Water Canyon, Newmont Goldmine Tour, Caliente Railroad Depot, Newmont Gold Mine Tour, Northeastern Nevada Historical Society and Museum, Western Folklife Center, Pershing County Courthouse, Pershing County Marzen House Museum, The Depot, Unionville, Boomtown's Family Fun Center, Bonanza Opal Mines, inc. Rainbow Ridge Opal Mine, Royal Peacock Mining Company, Buckaroo Hall of Fame, Humboldt Museum, and Winnemucca Visitors Center.
  Scenic drives include Lamoille Canyon Scenic Byway that runs from State Route 227 around the 11,387 foot Ruby Dome; and the Angel Lake Scenic Byway, State Route 231 that runs up to an alpine lake at 8,400  feet. These roads are closed in winter.
