Fall
Art Workshop Series in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico
Nestled in the
Southern Rockies of New Mexico, Taos Ski Valley is about the pure
mountain experience and that is what it delivers along with
spectacular views and unexpected charm. Providing discerning
travelers with an enriching activity that will perfectly complement
their breathtaking surroundings, the Fall Art Workshop series runs
from August-October, and includes weekend-long workshops that give
artists of all skill levels (and wannabe artists!) hands-on
instruction from renowned artists in jewelry making, storytelling,
plaster sculpture and more.

Fall Art Workshops Series Schedule:
Aug. 29 & 31: THE FINE ART OF
STORYTELLING with Marilyn Noble: In this intimate and
interactive workshop, you'll learn about the elements that make a
compelling story, how to use your five senses to liven your prose,
how to uncover your personal truth and incorporate it into your
writing. Tuition Fee: $360
Sept. 6-8: WEAVING WITH STICKS with Kimberly Hamill:
Learn Andean style backstrap weaving with local Taos weaving
instructor Kimberly Hamill. The simplest tools–straight sticks and
string–are all you need to execute elegant tapestries. Tuition Fee:
$360
Sept. 20-21: CASTING RESIN JEWELRY with Sherri Haab:
This class covers all of the basic techniques for mixing, curing and
finishing resin. Explore how to create colorful effects with dyes
and pigments or embed inclusions into transparent resin. Students
will learn mold making as well as how to use existing molds to
create a variety of finished pieces. Tuition Fee: One day $120, Two
days $240

Sept. 27-28: HANDCRAFTING CHAIN AND BEAD JEWELRY with
Scott David:
In this two-day workshop, participants will complete two
bracelets and a pair of earrings. Bypassing the need for
a hot-torch, we will utilize simple hand-tools to hold
gemstone beads on silver wire and then set them into a
dynamic chain design composed of flush-cut and tumbled
silver jump rings. Tuition Fee: $240
Oct. 25-26: PMC PENDANT AND EARRINGS with Susan Dilger:
In this intensive workshop suitable for beginners, you
will explore rolling, texturing cutting and shaping the
clay into coils and custom balls to make an original
fold-over bale pendant and earrings and a reversible
Lentil Bead Pendant. Tuition Fee: One day $120, Two day
$240
Oct. 18-19: TOTALLY PLASTERED with Stephanie Lee:
In this process workshop, students will learn the basics
of working with plaster and plaster-like products for
the purpose of creating deep texture in their
2-dimensional artwork. The focus will be in depth
exploration of texturing techniques. Students will also
learn and experiment with plaster recipes for use in
different forms of artwork such as wood, canvas, altered
books, jewelry and more. Tuition Fee: $240 |
