A Mystical Journey to Peru, Part 2

Peru
is not a destination, it is a calling. When I got the
stone at the Grandmothers event, I heard and felt the
calling loud and clear. Amazingly enough, a week later,
I received an e-mail from one of my mentors, Rita Rivera
Fox, notifying me of an upcoming trip to Peru. This
trip would go to Cuzco, Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley
and then on to Lake Titicaca. When I read about the
Lake Titicaca portion of her trip, I knew that I had to
be there. So I signed up to go to the second portion of
her trip. Not knowing why though, I booked my plane
flight to go to Peru for the entire time that she was
there. I wondered what I was going to do during the
extra time span, but it felt right to book those dates.
Again, a week later, I knew why I had saved those
dates. I received another e-mail from another mentor,
James Williams, the author of the Andean Codex, inviting
me to come to Peru for a very special event. He told me
that Sebastian, a Q’ero shaman elder told him that his
people have a prophecy that there will come a time when
their people will be asked to share their sacred
knowledge with the outside world and that he has been
told that the time was now. They invited me to be among
the first to receive an initiation onto the path of the
Q’ero shaman. I was so honored and of course I said
yes. It just so happened that the date that this was to
happen, was within the dates that I had set aside for my
trip to Peru. Can you just feel the perfection of the
Universe in this? It gets better.
This
was one of the most sacred experiences of my lifetime.
There was a moment in time during the initiation that I
knew that this was more important than I could know;
that this was a mile-stone in my life. Channels opened
in my body which allowed me to become much more
connected to nature and gave me the ability to feel it,
see it more clearly, and communicate with nature. My
respect for all living things was awakened. Abilities
were awakened that I did not even know about until later
in the trip. I was initiated onto the first path of the
shaman, the path of Ayni. Ayni can be translated to
mean reciprocity; the giving and receiving of all
things. It sounds simple, but it is a profound path and
we as humans on this planet have much to learn on this
path. Our belief in lack has led us further and further
away from Ayni. The Q’ero’s believe that everything in
the physical world comes to us from Mother Earth; our
bodies, our clothes, our homes, and our food. There is
no lack for them because they take care of the Mother
and the Mother takes care of them. Ayni.
After
our initiation, we went to Machu Picchu, the seventh
wonder of the world. It is a mystical place that still
holds its magical energy. To walk into the compound is
to walk into the sacred beauty of nature. Green
mountains surround you and hold you safely like a womb.
Here we held a blessing of thanks to the mother for our
gift and we gave back to her. As we finished I could
feel her loving me and I turned around to see her blue
mist rising from the soil. It was an unforgettable
moment. Yet the trip just kept getting better.
Because the two groups were going to be in Peru at the
same time and the same place, we were able to coordinate
for them to come together in ceremony. After our
initiations were completed, we held what was called a
Hatun Dyspacho. It was an amazing event. We had a
group of Q’ero come down and play their native flutes,
Sebastian lead the blessings and nature responded by the
sun coming out and the birds began to sing. Many saw
light descend into the middle of our circle. I was so
joyous because my daughter had come with the other group
so I got to experience this moment with her.
This
was a beautiful ending to one part of my journey and it
heralded in the very exciting second part of the
journey. Lake Titicaca is said to be the navel of the
planet. It is said that this is where civilization was
born. All lay lines lead out from this lake to temples,
and pyramids across the planet. This is where I was to
find the locations on my stone.
On the
first day there, we were taken to Amantani Island. It
is called the Island of the pink ray. Mind you, we were
now at about 13,000 feet above sea level and we were
asked to hike to the top of this Island, which was at
about 15,000 feet above sea level. Along the way, my
mind kept saying, can’t we just stop here by this tree
and do our ceremony? But no, we had to go to the top.
At
about three quarters of the way up, I started to feel
the altitude. My lungs were heaving and my head was
aching. But something inside of me said, you will make
this journey. Slow down, it doesn’t matter if the
others go ahead of you. It doesn’t matter if they wait
for you. It will be their choice. What matters is that
you enjoy the journey. Stop and catch your breath and
see the beauty around you. It is not about the
destination, it is about the journey. So I did slow
down, and they did wait for me to get to the top. As
soon as we arrived, Rita pulled me into the center
circle and we began to each say what was in our hearts.
When it was my time, I felt called to bring in the
Grandmothers energy, for had they not brought me here?
They were the ones that brought forth the stone. As I
called them in, I literally heard everyone in the circle
behind me (about 25 people) give an audible sigh, like
the sigh you would hear of someone receiving a wonderful
backrub; the sigh of comfort. As we all joined hands in
the circle and simply radiated our heart energy as a
group, the vortex opened and out of the center of the
circle came the pink ray from the earth. Was this the
vortex that had been shut off? Was this the one I was
to open? If so, it was indeed now open.
It
turned out that the destination was just as good as the
journey. That night, energies kept coming into the
room. I was able to see them and so did my roommate and
Rita. I figured that we were being prepared for the
next day. I could tell that something very important
was going to occur the next day. This was the day that
we were being taken to the Doorway, a portal that was
recently found by our guide Jorge Delgado. He was
supposed to lead us there but he got called away. In
the morning, I thought to myself, we aren’t going to
have a shaman on this journey to do a blessing of the
land there. It is such sacred land. That’s when I got
an ‘ahh ha’ moment. I realized that there was going to
be a shaman there – Me.
In my
visions prior to coming, I came to know that it was
through this portal that many Incans escaped and it is
said that they took the golden sun dial with them. In
my visions, this was the place of my capture. I had
stayed behind to close the portal. I was a little
scared to go there but I kept breathing out the fear.
Face the fear and do it anyway is what my best friend,
Marsh Engle, always tells me.
As we
arrived, I could feel the energy of the site. There was
pain and suffering there. A woman met me as I approached
the site and she was holding three feathers. I
purchased them; she said they were condor feathers. I
was not sure that this was so, but it didn’t seem to
matter. I took the feathers with me and went to the
site. There in the spot where I set my mesa down was a
hole to put the feathers in. That was a good sign.
This was where I was to hold the ceremony. Here I sat
and listened to what the land was wishing for me to do.
I called in the four directions, Mother Earth, the Apus
(Mountain Spirits), the Thunder Spirits, and the Nature
Spirits. Our group was in tune with the space and one
of them began to speak a message, then another, and
another. I felt that one more had not yet spoken, and
asked if there was another message for us. There was, a
lovely petite woman came forward and shared her message
and then it was time to begin. We said a prayer of
forgiveness to the earth for the conflict that occurred
over the land. We each spoke what was in our hearts,
and I then began to lift the energetic imprint of the
conflict off the land. I also cleared the geopathic
stress in the land that had been caused by the conflict.
After, we formed a group circle and I asked them to
listen for a tone in their heads. Then, when they heard
the tone, they were to OM this tone. When they began to
tone, every single person in the circle had the same
exact tone. It was a deep guttural note that you might
hear a Tibetan monk chant. The ground literally vibrated
as we chanted and then I heard the words, IT IS DONE.
Rita heard them as well. Then nature responded. The
winds began to blow and the sky clouded. There was
thunder and lightening. We all returned to the bus.
But before I did, I turned to Rita and said, I think
that the stone is asking to be left here. She told me
yes, it is. It was like saying good-bye to my best
friend. I laid the stone in a pile of stones near the
doorway. My job was done here. I had begun my path as
a shaman.
